Why the Global Talent Visa Fits Pakistani Applicants

No UK sponsor required

You apply on the strength of your own profile. You do not need a UK job offer, and you are not tied to one employer once in the UK — useful for engineers and founders who want flexibility on arrival.

Settlement in 3 or 5 years

Depending on whether you are endorsed under the Exceptional Talent or Exceptional Promise route, the qualifying period for indefinite leave to remain is either three or five years of continuous UK residence.

Family included on one application

Spouse and dependent children apply as your dependants under the same visa category. There is no separate visa route to navigate for the family unit.

Built for the Pakistani tech profile

Senior engineers from Pakistan’s fintech and ride-hailing scene, AI researchers from NUST and LUMS, and founders coming out of the Karachi and Lahore startup ecosystem typically have the kind of evidence pattern this visa is designed to recognise.

Pakistani Professionals We Typically Work With

Software Engineers

Mid to senior backend, mobile and platform engineers from Careem Pakistan, Bykea, Daraz and Foodpanda Pakistan with measurable systems impact and cross-team technical leadership.

AI/ML Specialists

Data scientists and applied ML engineers, often with research roots at NUST, LUMS or FAST-NUCES, building production models in fintech, logistics and consumer apps.

Startup Founders

Founders of post-seed and Series A companies in the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad ecosystem — including alumni of GIK and COMSATS — with traction, funding or category-defining product work.

PMs & Engineering Managers

Senior product managers and engineering managers from JazzCash, Easypaisa, Airlift, Tajir and Bazaar Technologies who have shipped at scale and led teams through hyper-growth.

The Pakistan-Specific Process

Six things that look different for an applicant based in Pakistan, in the order they typically happen.

1. Document apostille at MoFA Islamabad

Educational and civil documents are attested through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad after prior departmental attestations. Plan for roughly three to four weeks.

2. Police clearance certificate

Issued by NADRA and the Police Department of the relevant province. Typical issuance is two to three weeks; we factor this into the dependant timeline as well.

3. Certified English translation

Urdu-language documents — including marriage and birth certificates — must be accompanied by certified English translations before they can be used in either the endorsement or the visa stage.

4. Endorsement application from Pakistan

The endorsement stage is fully online. We work with you across PKT (UTC+5), which sits four to five hours ahead of UK working hours, so live review sessions are scheduled in your evenings.

5. Biometric appointment at Gerry’s VFS

Once the visa application is submitted, biometrics are captured at a Gerry’s VFS visa centre in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad. We help you choose the slot that fits your timeline.

6. Decision and travel

After a decision, your vignette is collected and travel to the UK is planned within the validity window. We coordinate the sequence so you do not lose weeks between phases.

Typical Timeline From Pakistan

Five phases, roughly five to seven months from kickoff to UK arrival.

Phase 1 — Eligibility review and planning

2–4 weeks. Profile audit, route choice and a sequenced plan that overlaps document collection in Pakistan with evidence drafting.

Phase 2 — Evidence portfolio and endorsement application

6–10 weeks. Reference letters, evidence assembly and personal statement, run in parallel with MoFA attestation.

Phase 3 — Endorsement decision

5–8 weeks at the endorsing body, depending on field and queue.

Phase 4 — Visa application and biometrics

3–4 weeks. Online visa form, biometrics at Gerry’s VFS in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad, and decision.

Phase 5 — UK arrival

Total of 5–7 months from kickoff. Family travel and BRP collection coordinated alongside.

Common Questions From Pakistani Applicants

Do I need to fly to the UK to apply?

No. The endorsement and visa application can both be completed from Pakistan. You only need to attend a biometric appointment at a Gerry’s VFS centre in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad.

Will my Pakistani degree be recognised?

Recognition is by evidence pattern, not by degree institution. Assessors look at your body of work, technical contributions and impact — not whether your university name is familiar to a UK reviewer.

How long does MoFA apostille take?

Roughly three to four weeks once prior departmental attestations are complete. We plan the timeline so this runs in parallel with evidence preparation rather than blocking it.

Can I keep my Pakistani company or freelance clients?

Yes. The Global Talent Visa permits self-employment and does not tie you to one UK employer, so existing client relationships and directorships in Pakistan can generally continue, subject to tax considerations.

Do my Urdu-language documents need translation?

Yes. Any document not originally issued in English — including degree, marriage and police clearance documents — needs a certified English translation before submission.
